Every journey has its hiccups. Going from Seoul to Hong Kong meant an 8 hour layover in Beijing. Geographically this is mind boggling, but the cheapest flight happened to be along two popular routes. That layover, being at night, meant I was placed in a hotel, free of charge. This sounds great, except upon arrival at the hotel I had 3 hours to prepare for departing the hotel.
Needless to say, it was a little exhausting. Now in Hong Kong, I’ve had a wonderful week. I was lucky to find great people and the adventures have been fun. I’ve climbed to the peak of Victoria, watched a laser light show over the water, and wandered through the local markets.
Difficulties come at every turn, though. Regrettably, I won’t be able to venture into China on this trip. Instead, I will be flying directly to Thailand and backtracking through Cambodia and Vietnam. While in Thailand, I hope to gain scuba training while doing conservation volunteer work.
More stories will come. With frantic scribblings in my notebooks, memories I have been lucky to cement, and experiments I’ve been waiting to do… I can’t wait to share all of that with you!
